Wanderwhim

Wanderwhim is my passion project

I'm David Newcomb Morales (programmer, part-time poet, voracious reader) and I started this project as an exploration. I enjoy reading, dwelling in and around ideas, exploring curiosities and writing down what intrigues me.

But like so many people, I kept finding my mind dazed by everything tech has to distract us. From addictive patterns to sheer content volume to letting a machine "think" for me - I'd allowed my focus and creative impulse to be swept away in so many streams.

I wasn't sitting with curiosity, wasn't making sense of the hundreds of articles I'd bookmarked or saved. I'd feel fascinated by something momentarily, jot down notes, but never revisit them. Never coalesce them into my own writings / opinions / ideas.

I want tools that encourage thinking

The overwhelming temptation when using AI is simply to let it produce: code, plans, essays, etc etc. And it is relentless at achieving that. Offloading the work can momentarily feel like relief, but it has consequences (i.e. cognitive surrender).

Instead, I want to focus the utility of AI to (1) help me research and explore topics and (2) help me grow as a thinker/writer. The product I've built is geared toward empowering real people to achieve these goals.

It's helped me already on my creative path and I'm excited to see how a much larger community can help me discover even better ways to further this mission.

Why patronize Wanderwhim

A small subscription pays for me to build the product, talk to y'all, and keep the roadmap honest. I'm not making this some venture funded idea. I just want to help real people use the powerful new tools at their disposal without surrendering their voice, their thoughts or their humanity.
